The JKBOSE class 12th history syllabus encompasses modern Indian history from the 18th century till contemporary India, including historical alien rule, the foundation for the freedom movement, the achievement of Indian independence, the amalgam of pre- and post-independent Indian history, and the histories within the broad framework of global histories.
The syllabus is divided into three sections: Course 1: History of India from Ancient to Modern: Topics: Part I: Ancient and Mediaeval India Part II: Mediaeval and Early Modern India Part III: Modern India, Colonialism, the Freedom Movement, and Post-Independence History, along with some topics in the methodology and source of history.
Some of the learning outcomes suggested for this area are the knowledge of historical events that made contemporary India, being able to assess a historical source, thinking critically, learning to appreciate history from different perspectives, and being able to come up with well-articulated and informed arguments in historical discourse.
The various assessments are written tests on targets that involve objectives, short and long questions, projects based on selected historical events, periodic end-of-topic assessments, and participation in class assignments.
